When I was trying to think of what to call this a year ago I thought about a lot of different names but finally settled on Infinity Running. I liked the idea of running being infinite and never really ending. I can remember running as a kid just having fun and racing my friends. Then in junior high running on track team while also doing other sports. In high school I ran track as a freshman and started cross country as a sophomore. I had no idea back then that running would define my career for the past 20 years and be such a big part of my life for so long. Nor did I realize that I would still be setting my own personal goals into my forties.
My hope with Infinity Running is create a community of runners or those wanting to be runners to support and encourage each other. I would love to help guide those who want a coach but more than that I would like to see others be encouraged in their own running journey. I haven’t been the best at putting together content or creating the community I envisioned. But now as I sit here at home like so many of us I have been reflecting on this. I have a few ideas I want to try and I hope some of you will join me.
- A virtual 5k on May 2nd. With so many events cancelled and a lot of us no longer having something to train for I thought this would be fun. I am going to start training next week for a 5 week buildup before running the 5k. I will run it alone due to the social distancing guidelines in place. I will post updates on my training and I am hopeful that others might decide to join me in running their own 5k that day and we can encourage each other over the 5 weeks.
- In order to stay motivated in doing my short core workouts I am going to do them at 10 AM mountain time on Facebook live. If anyone would like to join me and follow along I would love to have the company.
If any of you want to join me please send me a comment or email letting me know. In the meantime I hope all of us can find something to motivate us in our journey through this very unique period.
